The Jal Jeevan Mission is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at providing functional household tap water connections to all rural households by 2024. The mission's goal is to ensure safe drinking water to every rural home, which will significantly improve the quality of life and health standards for rural communities.

As part of this mission, the water storage tanks (or Jal Jeevan Mission tanks) are critical infrastructure. These tanks are used to store water that can then be distributed through piped water supply systems to households. The tanks play an essential role in:
